CO2 Free Cement
The R&D conducted at the University of British Columbia Ceramics Department for AnorTech determined that adding phosphoric acid to crushed calcium rich anorthosite produces a white refractory (heat resistant) cement without adding CO2 to the environment. Whereas Portland cement adds 0.9 tonnes of CO2 for every tonne produced.
Anorthocrete can withstand temperatures up to1200 C versus 350C for Portland cement. Refractory concrete commands a premium to the market.
AnorTech is working with the Danish Technological Institute to further refine this process.
