CO2 Free Refractory Cement
The R&D conducted at the University of British Columbia Ceramics Department for AnorTech determined that adding phosphoric acid to crushed calcium rich anorthosite produces a white refractory (heat resistant) cement without adding CO2 to the environment. Whereas Portland cement adds 0.9 tonnes of CO2 for every tonne produced.
Anorthosite cement can withstand temperatures in excess of 1000C versus 350C for Portland cement. Refractory concrete commands a premium to the market.
AnorTech is working with the Danish Technological Institute to further refine this cement technology.
